AL IRSYAD SURABAYA IN MEMORIAM

Islamic movements in Indonesia cannot be separated from the organization founded by Asy-Syaikh Al-Imam Al-Ustadz Ahmad Bin Muhammad As-Surkati Al-Anshori Rahimahullah which then named Al- Irsyad, precisely on September 6, 1914 in Jakarta. This organization, from the beginning, has focused in the fields of education, da’wah and socioeconomic. The purpose of this organization is: Disseminate tawhid, eradicate syirik, revive the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, eradicate heresy, tahayyul, khurafat through means of schools, mosques, writings, lectures, fatwah. Educational materials which are preferred is tawhid, fiqh and Islamic history.

One area of Al-Irsyad movement is socioeconomic. To be more focused, targeted and well integrated, then on March 1, 1998 Branch Manager of Al-Irsyad Surabaya formed Social Team Al-Irsyad Surabaya which the organizational structure is under the Social and Economic Standing Committee. The principal tasks of this particular team are to improve the quality and quantity of social and economic activities which are managed by the Social and Economic Standing Committee, Women Standing Committee and Youth & Student Standing Committee of Al-Irsyad Surabaya. While to publicize the activities, particular team published a bulletin called Info Al-Irsyad. The performance of team is quite good in coordinating the various activities that are published through Al-Irsyad Info magazine. It is a pride to know that Al-Irsyad Info magazine is the only magazine which is exist for long period enough, 9 years, and has published 90 editions.

The author purposely summarize the following most interesting news and activities that have been carried out by committees, in hopes of becoming a lightening for Irsyadiyyin and sympathizers in general to further serve as the treasures of learning ahead.

The following activities is about Branch Manager Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Surabaya :

Haflatul Ied

Alkhotib in the event of Haflatul Ied 1422 H

Haflatul Eid is a reunion event and gathering forum for the big family of Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Surabaya which are always carried out since decades ago, precisely 1 Syawwal evening, but certainly only few people knows this because indeed Al Irsyad Al islamiyyah has less documentation, a self-criticism that must be considered even if it is too late.

Haflatul Eid describe major concern of Al Irsyad residents towards the development of organization, since almost all of the seats reserved by Youth and Student Standing Committee, the executive committee in this event, is fully occupied. It seems Al Irsyad residents very enthusiastic in this event, but only few of them who put concern in the other program routine. Perhaps the management of this period need to evaluate the work program may be less well-targeted so that the potential of human resources neglected members.

The format of event is relatively the same. But the committee lack of response this because according to the characteristics, most of the audience did not agree if the religious speech shown in this forum. In his speech, Geys Alkhotib as the Branch Manager Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Surabaya outlines several things:

1.      Pray that all of our deeds in Ramadan are accepted by Allah SWT and we are classified as muttaqin servants.

2.      BM according to the mandate of AD / ART organizations have tried as much as possible carries out the mandate. Those are:

a.       Advancing and increasing the quality of education both religion and public based on the improvement of the times. Start from playgroup, kindergarten, elementary, junior high, high school, even Ma'had. Also the Arabic language courses, computer, martial arts and basketball.

b.      Properly implement the Islamic da'wah, straight and clean of any form of shirk, heresy, superstition. In fact, Al Irsyad is currently a shortage dai, preachers, scholars who really reliable. One of reason is the lack of interest among parents to send their children in religion school (Islamic boarding school and Ma'had). Al Irsyad has had boarding school and Ma'had, namely Ma'had Al Irsyad Surabaya, Pondok Pesantren Al Irsyad Bondowoso and Tengaran (Salatiga), Ma'had Tahfidz Quran Lil Banat in Pekalongan and Bogor. Without the support of a great citizen Al Irsyad, purposes of proselytizing which proclaimed by founder Al Irsyad will be lost (disappear).

c.       Care to Muslims in aspects of economic, education and health, especially to the poor. It requires moral and material support of all citizens.

Speech ended with an apology, request support and greeting Taqobbalalloohu minnaa wa minkum, minal ‘aidzin wal faizin kullu ‘aamin wa antuk bikhoir.

Assalaamu'alaikum Warohmatulloohi Wabarokaatuh

Praise Allah Azza Wa Jalla, who gave favors faith and Islam to us. Sholawat and greetings may always devote to the Prophet Muhammad SAW, family, friends and us as his successor until the end of time. Alhamdulillah, Branch of Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Surabaya (PC) has entered the year 2004 which is the end year of the program. Insha Allah on June 6^th, 2004 will be held branch conference to evaluate all policies, activities and financial to members of Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah Surabaya. In accordance AD / ART Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah article 24 concerning branch conference containing the following: branch conference held 4 (four) years and is led by a BM or mandatorily appointed by the Central Executive Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah in accordance with Article 1 paragraph 4 letter h ART. The participant’s branch conference consists of:

1.      Full participants include:

a.       Regular members who already have a membership card.

b.      Member who do not have membership card but has been registered and approved by the PP.

2.      Observers participants invited by the Branch Manager

3.      Regional Chairman (PW) and / or PP.

In branch conference will be discussed and decided about:

a.       BM accountability report concerning policies and activities implemented during his tenure and also the financial statements.

b.      Drafting and approving branch work program to four (4) years, according aspirations and the mandate of the members that do not deviate from the Bylaws (ART) and injunction (decision) mu'tamar.

c.       Election of Chairman of the BM and the formation, which develops new PC service for 4 years period and proposed to the PP to obtain approval.

d.      Other issues specified in the agenda of branch conference invites and appealed to all members and residents of Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Surabaya to succeed conference which will be held on June 6^th, 2004. It is an obligation to account all policies, activities and financial of the organization to members / participants conference.

Therefore, we expect all members care about the conference, because you are the hands of the existence of Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah in the future. Attend the conference with a sincere heart and use your voting rights as well as possible since it will determine the fate of Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Surabaya in the future.

We are fully aware that there are still many shortcomings in running the organization for this 4 (four) years. This is because of our limitations. We have tried to do our best in carrying out the obligations and responsibilities. We do not expect the praise and compliments but only the blessing of Allah. We ask for apologize for any shortcomings and our limitations. Only to Allah SWT we surrender.

Let us invite and urge you all, the Irsyadiyyah, to attend conference with a sincere heart and you all can provide the best for Al Irsyad in the future. Hopefully the conference will run smoothly, clean and successful that can produce decisions that are really worth. Enjoy the conference. Good luck.
